Abstract

In the context of restrictions to access to deservedly popular leading scientometric databases, the possibilities of reasonable use of the proceedings of highly specialized international scientific conferences as a source of bibliographic citations for scientometric analysis performed de visu are considered. Though there are not so many areas of science on which conferences are resulted with the publication of truly representative proceedings, the analysis of which makes it possible to assess the state of the scientific area as a whole, but they do exist; moreover, they do not necessarily have even at least one specialized scientific journal. We emphasize that really important scientific areas are meant: thus, in the nineties of the last century, when the author was engaged in such research, the important areas under his study that did not have specialized journals devoted entirely to them were magnetic fluids and bone marrow purification and processing.
